A woman smiles as she reads a message on her phone under a clear blue sky

Every call, written as it’s spoken.

Linea turns the voice on the other end of the line — and the people around you — into clear live captions. Free for anyone with hearing loss.

  • 4.8 from 9,400 reviews
  • Free if you qualify
  • Private on your phone

Nothing lost between a voice and a word.

No gaps, no guessing, no asking twice. Linea exists so people who are deaf or hard of hearing can follow every conversation in full — with family, with doctors, with the world.

Phone calls should be simple, not stressful. With Linea you see every word as it’s said, so you can follow along and answer in your own way.

  • Live captions, word for word

Every word the caller says appears on your screen within a beat — accurate enough for fast talkers, soft voices and bad lines.

  • Keep the number you have

Use your existing number for calls and texts, or pick a new one just for Linea. Your contacts don’t change a thing.

  • Answer by voice or by keyboard

Speak back like any call, or type and let Linea read your words aloud in a voice you choose.

  • See who’s talking, and how

Speaker names, pauses and laughter show up in the transcript, so tone never gets lost on the way.

  • Transcripts that stay yours

Every call is saved privately on your phone. Search it later, share it if you want, delete it any time.

No installer visit and no special handset. If you can use a smartphone, you can use Linea.

  1. Download and confirm

Install Linea and confirm your hearing loss once. Eligible people pay nothing — captioning is covered by a public accessibility fund.

  2. Choose your number

Bring the number you already have, or take a new one in seconds. The people you call won’t notice a thing.

  3. Call. Read. Reply.

Still wondering about something? Ask a person — we reply within a day.

Who can use Linea for free?

Anyone whose hearing loss makes phone calls hard. You confirm it once in the app; captioning is paid for by a public accessibility fund, so there is nothing to buy and no subscription.

Does it work with my current number?

Yes. Keep your mobile number for calls and texts, or take a free new number just for captioned calls. The people you call won’t notice a difference.

How accurate are the captions?

Linea pairs speech recognition tuned for phone audio with corrections as each sentence completes, so names, numbers and addresses come through reliably. Flag any line to help it learn.

Can it caption people in the same room?

Yes. Room mode uses your phone’s microphone to caption the people around you and labels each voice, so you always know who said what.

Are my calls and transcripts private?

Transcripts are stored on your phone, not on our servers. Audio is processed only for the length of the call and is never used for advertising.

Which languages does it support?

More than forty, including Spanish, French, Mandarin, Arabic and Hindi. Linea notices when a speaker switches language and follows along.

Do I need an internet connection?

Calls need mobile data or Wi-Fi, like any app-based call. Saved transcripts stay readable offline.

Will it work with my hearing aids?

Linea pairs with Bluetooth hearing aids, cochlear implant processors and headsets, so you can listen and read at the same time.
